Why did I not read this book sooner! I am obsessed with it. There were so many things that I loved about it and through the entire book there was only one thing that I personally wasn't a fan of just but it definitely didn't take away from the reading experience. Katy is a fantastic main character. She was so relate able and that was probably one reason I enjoyed her narration. She is a book blogger which is super great and added a lot to her character. The biggest thing this book has going for is its amazingly real and developed characters, that and the hot guy on the cover (Duh!). Both Katy and Daemon where sarcastic and funny, I was laughing the whole way through. One thing that you learn is that a lot of the characters are Aliens, and the main character isn't which tends to make that character in someway weaker but even though Katy is a human and physically not as strong she really kicked some major butt in the end. I like to read books that portray strong females and in her own way Katy definitely lived up to that.Now Daemon who at first I thought was a major jerk ended up being one of my favorite characters. Especially after reading the chapters in his pov at the end. He reallyhad so much depth to him, on the outside a hard tough rude sarcastic guy, but really it was a front inorder to protect his family's secret. He is of an alien race and there just so happens to be hunted by other aliens for their powers. So he is justified by it which made it very endearing to read. I loved the growing sexual tension and the future of the romance to come. I loved that Jennifer drew it out over the book and it wasn't instant love.Okay so here is my main problem with this story! *Don't take this as if I didn't enjoy this story, I gave it 5 stars on goodreads* So the powers the aliens have for me were just a slight ripoff of Roswell by Melinda Metz another alien books series and later TV show. The ability to heal and shapeshifting were just very reminiscent of it. As well as the group dynamic of the Alien friends. Also the DOD in a way reminded me of it too. But yes they are similar but I still love both.I can't wait to read Onyx and see where these characters and story go after the way it ended and how this will continue.
